Mary, Bette, and Madonna! Who knew when so many of the population went home to survive the pandemic, the Artists LeFey LLC and SoFonda Tees would dive down and re-surface in whole new directions?
It has always been our intent with SoFonda Tees to create fun, quirky styles for the adoring masses, and along the way we became a corporate supplier and fundraiser for Free Mom Hugs, Inc. That was a huge surprise, and what a wonderful learning curve that opportunity provided. When our most favorite Huggers took their shirt sales in house, we wondered what to do with what we’d learned. And since we had a year (give or take) to muddle it around and think it through, we took the time to develop a real mission, and one that we feel is very profound.
I had 40 years with my late wife, my best friend in the world, to be in a “normal” relationship. When we walked down the street, we never got a look because we were holding hands or arm in arm. And when I met and married Khrysso, it became a personal goal to normalize our relationship, too. We strive always to be visible and present when we’re in public together, to become a part of our environment, a sight that doesn’t demand attention for being unexpected.
And so that goal has become the mission of SoFonda Tees, to encourage and empower LGBTQ+ people everywhere to be visible and present as an expected part of any normal environment. We offer fun and quirky products, exclusive designs, and imported PRIDE gear, too, and strive to keep our prices as affordable as possible. We also provide the same deal to other organizations we offered to Free Mom Hugs: low cost promotional items and donations to support their efforts for the good of the LGBTQ+ community.
In addition, we joined the Desert Business Association, which is the Coachella Valley’s LGBTQ+ chamber of commerce, AND! we’ve become approved and certified as a member business in The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce just to up our professional game.
